Q & A with Charles Byron Andrews
Q: You’ve worked and have had business interests all over the world, what attracted you to Delray Beach?
A: I follow migration patterns and demographic trends. Delray Beach is poised for a huge upswing and is positioned to be one of the first cities to recover from this historic correction. Because Delray is sandwiched between Boca Raton and Palm Beach, it is a natural midpoint for big business. The downtown feel and atmosphere make it a Mecca for young talent and energy.
Q: What’s Delray’s potential? Can we be a world-class destination, a viable brand?
A: Delray to me is a mini- London and New York City… board shorts and Bentleys. It’s no secret that South Florida is a fun place to operate my enterprise. Where else can you bounce to Turks and Caicos or handle international banking in the Bahamas and still be back at Muvico for dinner and a movie… all in 1 day?
Q: Tell us about some of your initial projects in Delray? What can people look forward to from Blue Coast?
A: We are a friend of the Worthing Place Project as we are helping with fresh marketing ideas and to structure potential capital raises for the needs of the project. Blue Coast and the Delray Beach Film Festival hosted the launch party on the roof top in May. It was a fun-filled event that yielded in substantial leases. We have just taken over the only other large Class A office building in the Central Business District of Atlantic Avenue, 110 East Atlantic Avenue. We are excited about the opportunities of this project. Our team hopes to bring a green component to the city that has never been done thus far. We want to suggest hybrid parking spots outside of our building encouraging our commercial tenants to handle their deliveries in Hybrid vehicles only. Blue Coast continues to list area properties and fulfill the real estate needs of our residents, businesses, restaurants, and stores.
Blue-Coast.com is the title sponsor and advisor for a highend event that Delray has never seen before. The Super Car Experience is an event that has been successful for Downtown West Palm Beach for the last two years. 150 high-end, exotic cars and the top professional drivers flock to this event from all over the world. Morroso and Palm Beach Speed way are reserved for Super Car owners to learn what their car is capable of. It is one thing to have your whip at a nice restaurant and it’s another to know how to power through a turn at 80 MPH comfortably. It is truly a Super Car Experience. The following day we exhibit the cars in Downtown Delray for families and enthusiasts. A small celebrity gala on Old School Square grounds concludes the event.
Q: You made quite a splash with your opening night party at the 110, exotic cars, beautiful art work and the North American debut of Regalia Vodka. How did the crowd react to some of the improvements your making to that important building?
A: The only complaint we got was that it was a little too sexy for Delray and I just smiled and said “Exactly and Thank You!” Everyone loved the Art Exhibit curated by my staff. We engaged local artists to display their works throughout the building. This offered Blue Coast the opportunity to showcase the various layouts and designs of each of our commercial spaces. Super Car Experience provided us with three exotic cars as a sample of what is to come for the February 19th showcase. The night was highlighted with a swimsuit fashion show which some might think is too sexy for Delray Beach. I like to bring the excitement and sizzle to all of my events and projects. That is what is great about Downtown Delray Beach, we have such a varied demographic here that sexy fashion shows and family-oriented events can all be successful.
Q: You’ve written a book, have had varied business projects and even served in the NAVY, what’s next for Charles Byron Andrews?
A: We plan to grow here while concentrating on other bigger downtown markets as well. We have just taken interest in one of the top broker dealers in the country. Now, we are evaluating deals and projects while raising the capital for them and subsequently hiring executives that qualify. I see this historic correction as the biggest opportunity of my lifetime, my team’s lifetimes and my affiliates’ lifetimes. Cash is King. We know how to structure the raises and get the job done… our track record shows it.
